She, captioned A Background marked by Experience, is a novel by the English author H. Rider Fatigued, distributed in book structure in 1887 after serialization in The Realistic magazine between October 1886 and January 1887. She was remarkably famous upon its delivery and has never been out of print.
The story is a first-individual account that follows the excursion of Horace Holly and his ward Leo Vincey to a lost realm in the African inside. They experience a crude race of locals and a puzzling white sovereign named Ayesha who rules as the almighty "She" or "She-who-must-be-complied".
